The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches is looking to hire an Assistant Teacher to work aftercare in Mandel JCC's Kay Early Childhood Learning Center in Palm Beach Gardens. The position is between 15-20 hours per week, from the hours of 2pm/3pm to 6pm.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Come to work everyday with positive attitude and excitement to spend the afternoon with and engage with our preschoolers!
• Follow the Lead and/or Assistant Teacher, engaging in activities which promote the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child.
• Maintain a neat, organized classroom, with a learning center focus ensuring classroom is cleaned up after dismissal ready for the next day.
• Nurture physical, spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive and literary growth and development of each child.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Director according to the school and agency needs.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A LOVE for working with young children!
• Minimum of six months' experience working with early childhood-age children.
• Associate's Degree & 45 hour DCF training course in child care or the educational exemption granted by the training coordinating agencies, when applicable.
• Someone who will complete a minimum of ten (10) hour or one (1) CEU in-service training per year starting July 1st and ending June 30th each year.
• Someone who meets Florida Department of Health requirements for teaching in an Early Childhood Learning Center.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire it.
• Working knowledge of the growth and development of young children and ability to utilize this information in the classroom. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work constructively with children and adults.
• Judaic knowledge or willingness to acquire this knowledge through study.
• An ability to relate to young children and adults in an emotionally responsive manner.
• Someone with sensitivity to individual children’s differences and needs, and the willingness to adjust the program to meet those individual needs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Young children are very active and move constantly throughout their day. To teach young children effectively and keep them safe the teacher must be physically able to keep up with children. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderate weight (up to 35 pounds), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting and sitting.
