Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting Manufacturing by maintaining or improving overall supplier quality performance. This will include PPAP submissions, inspections, auditing, incoming supplier material reviews, improving processes, monitoring supplier base, and visiting supplier facility to conduct audits for new and existing suppliers as needed to certify competence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education and/or Experience: 4-year degree preferred or 2-year degree with 2 years similar demonstratable experience, including working in an assembly, machining, or manufacturing environment, as well as 2 years’ experience with primary duties as Supplier Quality, Quality Engineer, or other related quality experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general drawings, prints, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, etc. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Excel, Power Point, Word, MS Project, etc.
Additional Highly Desirable Skills, Experience, or Qualifications: Machining, metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, or anodizing experience, ISO experience, Six Sigma, Lean, statistical analysis, AIAG training, leadership experience, presentation skills, Auditor training, PPAP evaluation
