Summary

MaineHealth is currently recruiting a senior staff accountant. One to two years of public accounting is preferred, but not required. This role may be a hybrid or remote opportunity.

Position Summary

According to established policies and procedures, Maine Medical Center applies principles of accounting and statistical analysis in order to maintain control and accountability in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Monitors maintain that there are proper controls over assigned general ledger accounts, by preparing entries, detailed reports, and financial statements to reflect the financial status and activities of Maine Medical Center.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

   2. License/Certifications:N/A
   3. Experience: 2–3 years of Accounting experience.
   4. Demonstration of integrity, maturity, dependability, stamina, tact, positive attitude, and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities.
   5. Interpersonal skills are necessary to deal effectively with various hospital/practice personnel, third party payers, auditors and regulatory agencies.
   6. Knowledge of accounting principles and accounting systems to maintain general ledgers and journals and prepare related statements and reports.
   7. Analytical skills to collect pertinent information necessary to prepare, reconcile and analyze financial statements and reports.
   8. The ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when reviewing posting reports, bank statements and preparing detailed financial and statistical reports.
   9. Flexibility to deal with frequent interruptions.
   10. Knowledge and experience surrounding financial reporting requirements pertaining to Federal and State, and commercial grants.
   11. Knowledge and experience with mainframe and personal computers. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and exposure to various computer systems utilized by the Medical Center.
   12. Analytical skills to collect pertinent information necessary to prepare, reconcile, and analyze, financial statements and reports, within Maine Medical Center and related organizations.
