Maine Veterinary Medical Center is Hiring a Veterinary Technician - Cardiology/Radiology Near Scarborough, ME

This position is eligible for quarterly bonuses under Rarebreed’s profit-sharing program!

You’ll be an integral part of our new Cardiology and Radiology teams, caring for a diverse range of patients and supporting their families. Partner with our new boarded Cardiologist and Radiologist and dedicated support teams to treat patients using state of the art cardiac monitoring, imaging diagnostics and treatments. This is an opportunity to both practice exceptional medicine and build relationships with clients and patients and assist them through difficult but fulfilling processes.

You’ll have 2 years in a veterinary hospital, strong clinical skills and anesthesia experience, a detail-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and a desire to build a stronger team. If this sounds like you (even if you don’t have specialty experience; we can train you!) let’s talk!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with patient care during EKG/Echo diagnostics, interventional procedures and appointment based care
  • Monitor patients undergoing cardiac treatments, including verifying medication doses, placing and maintaining catheters and recording all treatments
  • Assist owners in managing at home cardiac monitoring equipment and processes
  • Perform routine and advanced treatments and procedures, including injections, oral medications, blood draws, basic pharmacology and bandaging
  • Administer sedation as needed following protocols and veterinarian’s orders while continuing to monitor patients during Diagnostic Imaging procedure.
  • Weigh patients and ensure their weight is accurate in the medical record
  • Maintain yearly training in CPR
  • Perform Digital Diagnostic Imaging Examinations with a high level of accuracy in small animal and post-operative areas
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and use of ALARA in regard to radiation safety
  • Working knowledge of the image storage and viewing software
  • Provide comfort, love, and a skilled hand to patients
  • Keep patient families updated with medical and financial status
  • Support the hospital team to provide exceptional care for pets and their owners


Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital
  • Current Maine Veterinary Technician License or the ability to obtain one
  • Prior specialty experience desirable but not required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong Clinical skills, including excellent phlebotomy experience
  • Detail-oriented and well organized
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Self-motivated
  • Team-oriented
