Job Description:


Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing & Communications will create and execute plans in support of MVH strategic plan. This includes providing system-wide guidance and support for internal and external communications for public relations, development, advocacy, crisis control, and all aspects of marketing. MVH’s Communications Director will direct proactive and responsive strategic communications and marketing, and manage campaigns to engage, educate and inform key stakeholders, including MVH residents and families, team members, the MVH Board of Trustees, media, and industry stakeholders and partners. Marketing efforts should reinforce MVH brand and support key efforts to recruit staff and drive admissions. Because of the Communications Director’s efforts, MVH is able to effectively communicate and clarify our MVH Mission and strategic objectives to internal and external audiences. This position operates at both the strategic and tactical levels to deliver marketing and communications support.

Job Related Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Work closely with Senior Leadership Team (SET), to develop and implement MVH communication and marketing strategy related to operations, admissions, recruiting, advocacy, development, and public relations.
  • Support crisis communications as needed by:
  • Serving as the main point of contact for media.
  • Provide communications expertise and consultation to Senior Leadership Team (SET), and home Administrators in the development of communications strategy related to crisis management.
  • Supporting SET and home Administrators in the development and dissemination of communications to internal and external audiences.
  • Provide communications expertise and direct support to MVH CWO, CEO, SET, and home Administrators to ensure internal and external communications are aligned and coordinated.
  • Provide marketing expertise and direct support to the MVH CWO, CEO, SET and home Administrators.
  • Supervise either agency or subcontracted marketing professionals to execute the development and deployment of multi-channel marketing campaigns and content, including graphic design and branding elements, marketing materials, web design, social media, and associated analytics.
  • Establish and implement internal communication plans to assist with:
  • Communicating Leadership objectives and inform teams of situational status.
  • Clarifying Leadership’s organizational goals.
  • Recognizing employee and organizational achievement.
  • Strengthening and improving operational processes.
  • Effectively communicating change.
  • Providing communications support to employee retention efforts.
  • Establish and execute plans to support external communications by:
  • Responding to public relations inquiries and events from external inquiries including, but not limited to media and elected officials.
  • Shaping and structuring clear, compelling messages and develop storytelling campaigns for advocacy, development, and public relations purposes.
  • Developing advocacy messaging to clarify mission, objectives, and organizational needs.
  • Helping Senior Leadership Team and Board Members prepare for external speaking engagements, inquiries, and promotional opportunities.
  • Providing communications for use in development and fundraising efforts.
  • Establish and execute a marketing plan that advances the organizations key objectives, specifically recruiting and admissions. Oversee the production of all aspects of the marketing plan, managing all contracts with external resources.
  • Manage and monitor all MVH communication platforms, including: MVH website, MVH intranet, social media, email, newsletter, and more.
  • Support existing and develop new beneficial relationships and partnerships to advance communication and marketing efforts. This includes relationships with key stakeholders and media.
  • Develop necessary campaigns and collateral in the execution of MVH’s communication and marketing strategy.
  • Establish and manage annual communications and marketing budget.
Experience and Skills:

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, communications or marketing experience including developing communications for advocacy, development, and public relations, and creating marketing strategies or two years in a director role, in this field
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
  • Ability to develop communications for a wide range of audiences and channels required.
  • Experience in delivering communications and marketing plans for nonprofit and/or health care organization, nursing facility experience preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, and working knowledge of other computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
