Maine Veterans' Homes is Hiring a Rehabilitation Manager Near Scarborough, ME

Job Description
Position Summary: The Rehabilitation Manager is responsible for managing the Rehabilitation Program as well as direct therapy service in his/her discipline. Responsibilities include program development, staff orientation, development, and the integration of all therapy services. The Rehabilitation Manager will also provide therapy in his/her discipline to residents, including evaluations, planning individual treatment programs and goals, actual resident treatments, and other related duties. Directly supervises the rehabilitation staff.
Job Related Responsibilities and Activities:
  • Provides fiscal management with the Administrator by interpreting monthly department financial statement, monitoring cost-effectiveness, productivity, volume, and recommending capital equipment.
  • Evaluates and manages PPS, HMOs, Part B, and Other insurance plans.
  • Develops and implements staff growth through on-going training programs.
  • Attends or assigns therapist to attend IDT meetings, Rehabilitation staff meetings, and Management staff meetings as necessary regarding problems, progress, and needs of the residents.
  • Ensures Rehabilitation policies and procedures are current and reports changes to the Administrator.
  • Works with and participates in regulatory agency surveys to ensure that MVH maintains compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and VA requirements.
  • Ensures residents' rights are upheld by Rehabilitation staff.
  • Investigates and resolves resident care complaints, regarding rehabilitation services, in compliance with regulation and MVH policy.
  • Assists with Medicare Appeals process.
  • Secures necessary supplies, durable medical equipment, and adaptive equipment. Ensures therapy equipment safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
  • Represents MVH locally, state-wide, and nationally through committee appointments, board memberships, professional organizations, and other activities.
  • Maintains close working relationship with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Admissions Coordinator, and Medicare Coordinator. Works cooperatively with staff in all other departments.
  • Ensures that appropriate care is being rendered by auditing residents' Care Plan and residents' chart for specific treatments, medication orders, changes in condition, etc.
  • Keeps informed on rehabilitation trends, resources, procedures, and community resources; updates department accordingly.

Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy
  • Must have current State of Maine licensure as a Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapist
  • Experience in managing a rehabilitative department, long-term care experience preferred.
