Are you a hands-on creative leader with a strong understanding of local news, engagement channels, and news consumption?
The Director of Audience and Growth will manage the critical intersection between METLN news content and its audience.
Key Responsibilities:

Audience Development: Drive audiences for general news and specific product initiatives, starting with Newsletters and Events. Enhance visibility and engagement through innovative strategies. Identify opportunities for partnerships with local influencers to amplify our reach.

Collaboration: Establish partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to discover untapped audiences; facilitate cross-promotion of our [newsletter] products. Assist the newsroom in on-platform engagement efforts, including cross-linking tactics, SEO optimization, and content packaging.

Lead with Data: Actively participate in news meetings and leverage our consumer data platform to identify targetable audience segments for story promotion, emphasizing lifecycle management and personalized content promotion. Share regular insights on audience and content performance with newsrooms. Champion use of data and analytics in the newsroom, preparing engagement reports and working with editors to monitor.

Subscriber Engagement: Collaborate with subscription retention team on content, event and other key initiatives aimed at engaging subscribers and mitigating churn.

Push Strategies: Develop email blasts, social media campaigns, and other push strategies tailored to specific audience segments.

Special Projects: Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership ranging from assisting with internal/external events to employee engagement activities.
Qualifications
- 5 years in content marketing or audience growth and engagement role. Digital newsroom experience a plus

Experience with customer data platforms, WordPress, SEO and social media tools

Understanding of and passion for the mission of the Maine Trust for Local News, and Maine.
