Maine School Administrative District No 75 is Hiring a Social Studies Teacher- (Grade 7) Near Topsham, ME

ANTICIAPTED for 2024-2025 School Year

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General classroom responsibilities with a major focus on teaching Social Studies.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment to design engaging student-centered lessons based on clear Learning Targets and Learning Goals.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Support a growth mindset in the classroom including how to learn from mistakes, persevere, manage impulsivity, and develop grit.
  • Use assessment data to find a student’s readiness level in order to meet where they are and to advance in their learning using feedback effectively.
  • Participate in professional development in curriculum, instruction and assessment.
  • Support non-instructional duties.
  • Perform other duties as per the Teachers’ Contract.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the Common Core State Standards and Maine Learning Results.
  • Knowledge in the unique needs of the young adolescent and of the middle level philosophy.
  • Knowledge of integrated technology and experience with current trends in curriculum, instruction and assessment. 
  • An understanding of a learner-centered, proficiency-based education.
  • An understanding of the Response to Intervention (RTI) model of student growth and support.
  • Proven ability to function as a contributing member of a team.
  • Current Maine Department of Education Grades K-8 or 7-12 Teacher Certification with a Social Studies Endorsement.
