Magnolia Power Management Company, LLC is Hiring an Environmental Manager Near Plaquemine, LA

Magnolia Power LLC is developing a new, start-of-the-art combined cycle power generating facility in Iberville Parish. The 700 MW generating station will use General Electric’s 7HA.03 advanced-class gas turbine in a one-on-one combined cycle configuration to provide best-in-class efficiency and emissions. The construction phase will be completed by the end of 2024 and will move to commercial operations in the Spring of 2025. We are now hiring qualified individuals with a priority focus on safety and environmental to support the operations and maintenance at Magnolia Power.

Job Overview:
The Environmental Manager is responsible for providing technical support for and coordination of overall project safety and environmental compliance; and for implementing policies and procedures, consistent with the project’s safety and environmental management system. The Environmental Manager works in cooperation with to the Safety & Training Manager, if applicable. He or she will maintain effective relationships with corporate employees, project management employees, community representatives, and regulators.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental programs and policies, that ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and site permit and regulatory requirements, and the project’s safety and environmental management programs.
  • Conduct routine self-assessments, using developed protocols; to ensure continuing compliance with site requirements, commitments, and procedures.
  • Provide primary interface with local regulators, including preparing for and coordinating inspections; responding to information requests; supporting strategies for and negotiations of permit modifications and renewals; and preparing routine compliance reports and communications.
  • Supports all facility safety programs and safe-work permits, including Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) of Lock-Outs, Tag-Outs (LOTOs), Hot Work, Confined Space, Working at Heights, etc. Ensures safe working conditions for Plant employees and contractors.
  • Select and manage consultants for specialized EH&S technical expertise, as needed.
  • Work closely with all departments and employees, and contribute technical and regulatory expertise and guidance, to assist in problem solving. Assess environmental and regulatory consequences of any significant change in project operations.
  • Prepare and manage an annual department budget for EH&S related functions and ensure that spending is managed within the established budget.
  • Serve as liaison between the Plant and local regulators, commissions, and the community; to ensure an understanding of Plant operations, the Plant’s commitment to safety and environmental protection and enhancement, and the desire to maintain open communications.
  • Overseeing facility safety and environmental policies
  • Assisting in the development and review of plant environmental profiles and regulatory calendar
  • Assisting in environmental emissions and other routine plant reporting requirements.
  • Developing, reviewing, and implementing procedures and formal written programs related to health and safety to enable compliance.
  • Collecting, monitoring, and analyzing facility environmental performance data to anticipate potential problems and recommend solutions and/or prevention activities.
  • Maintaining related records and performing analysis to identify trends and causes.
  • Leading environmental compliance audits.
  • Reviewing auditing and maintenance/improvement of facility management systems designed or required to meet existing environmental requirements.
  • Leading efforts to ensure that all regulatory federal and state workplace mandates are met by successfully implementing programs and procedures.
  • Preparing and maintaining Aid & Water environmental permits, facility reports and documentation for environmental requirements.
  • Completes other duties, as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of combined experience in safety and environmental compliance and Power Plant operations; or related industrial Plant operations, including environmental compliance assessments.
  • A demonstrated general awareness and knowledge of major safety and environmental legislation, involving air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management; with a specialization, in at least one media area.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting processes, state regulatory agency organization, enforcement processes, and experience with required reporting requirements.

Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
