Overview:
Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) specializes in the management, optimization, and development of power generation in the United States and Canada and is a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group. Blackstone is a leading global alternative asset manager with more than $1 trillion of total assets under management. Currently, Kindle manages 10 GWs of generation in Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey, and Maryland, with a 700 MW CCGT project under construction in Louisiana.

Kindle will be assuming management responsibilities for multiple power generation assets located north and west of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are currently developing the regional management team who will be the key onsite support team for these facilities.

The Regional Environmental Manager role is responsible for overseeing the environmental compliance for the assigned facilities including power generation plants with coal-fired, natural gas, and steam turbines, including all permitting and reporting per local, state, and federal guidelines. This position will report to the General Manager and may be based in Louisiana near the power generation facilities or via remote location with frequent travel to the facilities required.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for technical work in a wide range of environmental disciplines to achieve compliance with federal, state and industry regulatory requirements
• Review, interpret, and advise management on environmental compliance and policy matters
• Oversee and manage selected system to regulate environmental compliance tasks
• Review plant procedures and make recommendations for updates according to laws, regulations, and good power plant practices and environmental standards
• Investigate environmental occurrences and/or violations as necessary
• Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operation of equipment, to minimize hazardous conditions
• Develop and conduct employee training
• Implement quality assurance programs
• Prepare and maintain environmental compliance documents and records where appropriate to be completed at a regional level
• Coordinate the timely modification or renewal of all permits as well as all applicable testing procedures

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Environmental Services, Engineering or applicable Sciences
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in an Environmental Specialist or Management role within the power generation industry or relative field
• Experience with working with EPA’s Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) rules
• Knowledge of major safety and environmental legislation, involving air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management
• In-depth knowledge of environmental concepts, practices, standards and regulations.

• Self-management skills
• Solid organizational skills
