Summary of Responsibilities

To provide tooling and manufacturing support by improving department efficiency in a safe, high quality and productive manner by ensuring die changes are made efficiently, and tools are maintained in a way that leads to effective manufacturing and quality product. The Die Cast Maintenance Technician is responsible to ensure customer schedules are completed on a timely basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Move and set-up dies on bolsters
• Perform all external set-up duties as required for presses, including prepare tools, bolts, hoses, lube systems.
• Operate crane
• Serve as integral part of change-over team; work on each change-over
• Maintain dies in organized fashion
• Perform minor routine maintenance around presses and dies
• Perform preventative maintenance of components
• Promote and practice “safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions.
• Support tool room team members in a safe, quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain tasks as scheduled
• Provide toolmakers assistance as needed (eg. Cleaning of die details, assistance of moving and opening tools, tool room 5S and cleaning, other duties as assigned)
• Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
• Participate in Continual Improvement activities
• Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
• Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines
• Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Able to use technology and software as required
• Able to operate tow motor

Education and Experience Required

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred
• Prefer technical or trade school
• Prefer experience with Die Setting and Tooling
• Mechanical background

Work Environment

• The work environment is manufacturing plant floor
• The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers

• Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
