Position Summary

Looking for a place to begin a career as a DoD Software Developer? As a Software Developer, you will be developing software to support communications in advanced synthetic training environments. You will contribute to state-of-the-art methods to provide the means for simulators to coordinate the execution and exchange of information. You will be working to develop and maintain a multi-protocol abstraction library used by developers from multiple branches of the armed forces. You will implement research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. You will collaborate with team members to design and implement future enhancements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

• You will assist a software development team in developing an advanced synthetic training environment to support military pilot training. You will apply tactical knowledge to support the development of entity models.
• Perform TechELINT analysis on complex waveforms associated with a wide range of red and blue force systems.
• Work with software programmers to develop and refine simulation presentation of real-world ELINT parametric data.
• Perform signal translation of waveform data into a descriptive and behavioral modeling & Simulation language for Development and Test.
• Conducts specific technical duties on NGTS, performing threat system analysis and sensor modeling of radars, electronic warfare (EW) systems, countermeasures, electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems, and various weapons.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements 

Knowledge and Skills 

The required skills and knowledge include: 

• Proficient with source control management such as GIT
• Proficient developing cross-platform software libraries or SDKs

The minimum years of related experience required:

• 5-10 years’ experience with programming languages such as C or similar

Education 

The minimum level of education required is: 

• BS in Computer Science or Engineering Discipline.
• Degrees in Aerospace, Computer, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics are relevant substitutions.

Desired Requirements  

The desired skills, knowledge, and education include:

• Knowledge and familiarity of distributed simulation network protocols such as DIS, NASMP, NIS, HLA or TENA, etc. 
• Knowledge of datalink protocols such as Link16, Link11, VMF, CSAR, JREAP or SIMPLE
• Experience with using network debugging tools such as Wireshark
• Familiarity of programming notions such as polymorphism, covariant return types, friend classes, smart pointers, type erasure, multithreading, and template specialization
• Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/UDP sockets, streams, MTU, and latency
• Experience with CMake a plus

Other Qualifications

Outside of the above, other certifications, licenses, or clearances include:

• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret security clearance
