Madison Square Boys & Girls Club is Hiring an After School Youth Program Sports and Fitness Director (007) Near Bronx, NY

The After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (007) will be responsible for development, planning, organization, and implementation of programs and services for the club members, which may include fitness, memberships, intramurals, sport clubs, recreation, outdoor adventure, climbing wall, aquatics, tennis, and golf. The After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (007) will also be responsible for organizing, planning, and implementing programs. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (007) at our Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse (007) located in Bronx, NY.

This is a full-time non-exempt position working 35 hours a week Monday through Friday in the afternoon and evening.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (007) Position:

  • Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas.
  • Deliver fun and engaging programming for boys and girls, ages 6-18.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating departmental staff.
  • Supervise assigned staff members in all phases of their work.
  • Recruit members to consistently participate in sports & fitness programming.
  • Ensure members demonstrate new skills and sportsmanship. 
  • Develop instructional and competitive games, sports and various activities.
  • Ensure thorough evaluation for all departmental programs and services. 
  • Initiate and maintain community contacts with families, schools and other organizations and institutions to enhance programs and services.  

Required Skills/Knowledge for the After School Sports & Fitness Youth Program Director (007) Position:

  • A four-year degree from a state-accredited university/college and a minimum of 2 years in a related field. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and supervise sports and fitness activities, including tournaments, games, challenges and special events.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Proven track record of engaging youth in a responsible and mature manner.
  • Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
