T-ball and Coach Pitch Baseball Instructor - Summer 2024

MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50 fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.

Program Description:

MSCR's T-ball/Coach Pitch Baseball program is for participants ages 3-8 years old with a wide range of experience and skill levels. The T-ball/baseball program will focus on the fundamentals and basic skills of the sport in a fun positive environment.

Job Description & Duties:

T-ball/Coach Pitch Baseball Instructors are expected to plan and lead a group of participants ages 3-8, instructing them in the basic skills and fundamentals of the sport. The emphasis is on skill building, fun, fitness, making new friends, sportsmanship and learning the sport. T-ball/Coach Pitch Baseball Instructors are responsible for promoting this atmosphere while keeping play safe and fun.

Program Dates:

6/17 - 8/8

Work Location:

West side: Midvale Elementary.

East side: Elvehjem Elementary.

Hours/week: 3-15 hours per week.

Work hours: 4:30pm-7:15pm

Application Deadline: 6/14/2024

Payrate: 18.00 - 18.00 /hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Baseball experience typically from high school or post secondary experience.
  • Experience in youth leadership.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact when dealing with children, their parents/guardians, and the public.
  • Previous experience working with elementary and/or middle school aged children.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with the staff team.
  • Self-directed and motivated to create and develop engaging plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understand and communicate the rules of T-ball/Baseball.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
