Middle School Afterschool - Sports Coach

MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50 fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.

Program Description:

Coaches needed for Boy's & Girl's Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball Need to have Inclusive leadership skills Have Effective communication skills

Job Description & Duties:

• The Sports Coach is responsible for teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes.
• The coach will also enforce district and department behavioral and academic expectations of student-athletes.
• The coach is required to engage in academic monitoring with teachers, and other academic support staff.
• Middle School Sports offerings include: Boy’s & Girl’s Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball

12/7/2023-5/30/2024

Work Location:

Badger Rock, Black Hawk, Cherokee, Hamilton,Gillespie, O'keeffe, Sennett, Sherman, Spring Harbor, Toki, Whitehorse, Wright. Location to be determined at time of hire.

Hours/week:

10-18 hours per week

Work hours:

Hours vary based on practice and game schedule, but typically, Mondays-Fridays between 2:00-7:00 pm (Mondays) or 3:00-7:00 pm (Tues-Fri)

Application Deadline:

Payrate: 17.00 - 17.00 /hour

Minimum Qualifications:

• The ability to work well with children of various ages.
• Willing to learn and follow district rules and guidelines regarding youth sports.
• Prior coaching experience is helpful but not required.
  Preferred Qualifications:

• The ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team with student athletes, head coach, and parents.
• The ability to be able to positively motivate student athletes to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork
