Assistant Tennis Instructor - Summer 2024

MSCR or Madison School & Community Recreation is Madison’s public recreation provider. We offer everything you would find in your typical community rec department in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming, arts & enrichment, adult & 50 fitness, sport leagues, outdoor pursuits and more. As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District(MMSD), we also provide afterschool and summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools.

Program Description:

MSCR Tennis offers USTA beginner- and intermediate-level tennis lessons for youth in grades K-9 and for adults in a fun, recreational setting with a focus on sportsmanship.

Job Description & Duties:

Assist in implementing appropriate structured tennis lessons to all participants, youth and adults, including basic rules and strategy of the game, as well as fundamental skills including racquet skills, strokes, grip and footwork.
Maintain a safe, positive atmosphere for all participants.

Start Date: 6/10/2024

Program Dates:

Mandatory training week, 6/10-6/14. Program dates, 6/17-8/8

Work Location:

West High School, East High School, La Follette High School, Memorial High School, Rennebohm Park, Door Creek Park.

Hours/week: Up to 32 hours per week.

Work hours: Daytime (8:15am-12:30pm) and evening (4:45-8:30pm) weekday hours available (Monday-Thursday).

Application Deadline: Open until filled.

Payrate: 13.00 - 15.00 /hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of youth and adults.
Desire to work with youth in a recreational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of USTA programs and curricula.
Previous experience playing and/or assisting with tennis instruction.
