LYON COUNTY ATTORNEY - is seeking an Assistant County Attorney. This is an exempt position with starting wage based upon previous job experience. This position represents the State of Kansas in court at all hearings regarding criminal cases; prosecuting juvenile, traffic, misdemeanor and felony cases as assigned. This position will require a dedicated interest and ability in writing and appellate argument, trial and jury experience, and prosecution involvement in the community through multi-disciplinary teams. A willingness to relocate to Lyon County or an adjacent county and to work in excess of 40 hours per week as necessary is required. This position is to start immediately.

Qualifications:

• Requires current Class C driver's license. Must possess all current legal or department certification or license.

• Must be admitted to the Kansas Bar.

• Two years of experience in criminal prosecution desired. Expected to be performing at a competent level after one year in this position.

• Must have a law degree from a certified school of law. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas.

• Must have the ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions. Required to read, write and speak English fluently with the ability to speak a foreign language helpful. Must have knowledge of the statutory requirements regarding the office of County Attorney.

• Extensive problem solving exists in this position. Requires the ability to evaluate alternatives to resolve disputes. Must have the ability to interpret applicable statutes, regulations and policies and take appropriate action.

• May be required to work overtime and subject to call-in for emergencies.

• Must be able to pass drug screen, physical, background check, work screen and other testing.
