Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst 
GENERAL INFORMATION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Behavior Analyst is primarily responsible for conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior plans based on these assessments under the supervision of a certified BCBA. The BCaBA is to ensure the effective implementation of all treatment plans and programming for their clients on their caseload as described by the fundamental responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
  • Adheres to professional and legal requirements and the principles of behavior analysis and demonstrates sound professional judgment at all times.
  • Collaborates with teachers, staff, and all service providers as necessary to ensure continuity of care.
  • Performs direct and indirect assessments to identify the function of student’s behaviors.
  • Develops a treatment plan (including a behavior support plan) based on the functions of the behavior and treatment methodologies that are evidence-based.
  • Attends all relevant meetings for clients, including treatment team meetings, IEPs (as allowed/needed), and staffing. Adequately demonstrates their abilities to work effectively as a part of a team.
  • Collects data before and during the implementation of the plan so that the plan’s efficacy can be assessed and data-based decisions can be made.
  • Provides direct instruction/ongoing supervision, training, and support to staff members.
  • Upon receiving information from BCBA, BCaBA will initiate support and services with students in a timely manner.
  • Maintains scheduled meetings with the BCBA to maintain supervision standards and exceptional service delivery.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented treatment plan and modify the plan as necessary. Manages caseload and prepares and submits all required documentation on time. This includes assessments, treatment plans/BSPs, insurance updates as required, at least monthly analysis of the data, and updating the plans as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested/assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Must have a VA BCaBA license
  • Have completed 1300 supervised fieldwork hours or 1,000 concentrated supervised fieldwork hours

  • Receive a degree from an ABAI-I accredited bachelor’s program and complete the fieldwork or complete an undergraduate degree, behavior-analytic coursework, and the required fieldwork

  • Must take and pass the BCaBA licensing examination and then

  • Must apply for a VA BCaBA license after passing the exam
