Lydig Construction, Inc is Hiring a Site Safety Supervisor Near Seattle, WA

We are looking to add a new team member to join a large scale current Seattle, Washington project to perform the duties of a Site Safety Coordinator and lead our day to day safety operation within this site. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Health, Safety & Environmental. Working in close coordination with our project team and client representatives, this position will be responsible for the delivery of a safe and healthful work environment through application of best management practices, staff training, work activity monitoring, and utilization of processes such as Job Hazard Analysis and/or Daily Pre-Task Hazard Analysis.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Evaluates and ensures subcontractor compliance with company, federal, state and local safety regulations
  • Reviews and approves subcontractor safety programs, material safety data sheets, and site specific safety requirements prior to commencing work
  • Provides assistance/advice to staff as necessary
  • Conducts on-site safety inspections
  • Conducts employee training
  • Conducts job-site specific worker orientations
  • Assists in incident and near-miss investigations
  • Provides safety requirements to subcontractors at pre-bid and pre-construction services
  • Keeps safety logs and records and archives accordingly
  • Assists in the overall implementation of the company's safety program
  • Mentors staff as necessary
  • Provides exemplary customer service
  • Continually keeps principals and management informed of significant issues related to areas or responsibility

Qualifications:

Education / Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a construction related safety position is required.
  • Higher level education may substitute for experience.
  • Drafting and implementing policies and procedures.

Skills / Abilities

  • Establish rapport and maintain effective communications with staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Proactively determine solutions to problems in areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and time management skills.
  • Speak publicly, design, and conduct training as necessary.
  • Utilize applicable computer software.
  • Review all aspects of Hazard Analysis and possess the knowledge to make corrections.
  • Familiarity with WISHA 296-155 and OSHA 1926 regulations.

Physical Abilities

  • Operate a computer and other standard office machines.
  • Have adequate vision to evaluate working conditions and read documents.
  • Visit active construction sites and walk on uneven ground.
  • Climb ladders/stairs and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Conduct training sessions in varied environments.

Other Requirements

  • Current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as defined by Lydig’s insurance company and vehicle policy, if applicable for auto allowance
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment checks including a Drug Screen, Criminal Background and possibly Credit check.
  • Lydig is a drug free workplace, and all employees are considered to be in “safety sensitive” positions. All employees will be tested for controlled substances, including cannabis.
  • Employment eligibility is the sole responsibility of the applicant.

Travel

  • Occasional travel between job sites.

The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $115,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
