LSSI is hiring a full-timeChild Welfare Specialist,Monday through Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM (varies). The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services contracts with LSSI to provide in-home services to families who have been indicated for abuse or neglect.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides and coordinates a continuum of casework services on all levels of child welfare system designed to archive permanency for children and their family of origin, extended family, or foster/adoptive family within the policies of the agency, accreditation body, and regulatory entity.
  • Perform all tasks as required in the written service plan that is based upon the comprehensive, integrated assessment being certain to engage children and families in these processes.
  • Complete and submit all required reports, documentation and billing accurately and timely as required by agency and finding sources.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other service providers, schools, and health care facilities to promote the child(ren)'s well-being.

Position Qualifications:In addition to a real passion for working with at-risk children and families, this opportunity requires:

  • A Masters' degree in Social Work or a related human services field.
  • State licensing/certification as required by the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS.
  • Access to transportation for visits, and to transport clients to and from appointments.
  • A valid Illinois driver's license, proof of automobile liability insurance.
