Compliance & Training Specialist

Full Time | Day Shift

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Compliance & Training Specialist for LSS Health Center (formerly Health Center at Faith Mission) in Columbus, Ohio. What will I do as a Compliance & Training Specialist with Lutheran Social Services?

  • Researches and serves as a subject matter expert on relevant topics including program rules and processes, new laws, industry knowledge, and current training materials, techniques, and strategies.
  • Serves as the Electronic Health Record (EHR) SME and Administrator; Maintains and updates staff/provider log-ins, manages provider visit schedules, provides input on EHR updates and products, and serves as the point-of-contact for technical support.
  • Conducts and analyzes training needs assessments with the programs and develops/updates annual training calendar, lesson plans, and curriculum based on results.
  • Ensures all staff is current on trainings and certifications. Responds to the ongoing training needs of each program as identified, including any new policy changes.
  • Helps staff improve upon or enhance existing skills and understand new policy changes.
  • Prepares and conducts training programs for all staff or other individuals/groups as assigned.
  • Facilitates orientation for new staff.
  • Prepares train-the-trainer sessions for internal program trainings (i.e., NCI, CPR, etc.).
  • Schedules and organizes attendees for staff trainings (invite staff to trainings, inform managers and trainers of invitations, follow-up with staff that have not responded, confirm final list of attendees, work with staff to produce training roster, ensure that training attendees receive all credit for training.
  • Oversees actions for staff that miss confirmed trainings which may include rescheduling for next available trainings and informing managers of potential disciplinary actions and/or removal from staff schedules, in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Performs periodic audits and reviews for LSS Health Center programs to ensure that polices/documents which are presented in trainings have been consistently implemented and are being utilized appropriately.
  • Collaborates with Learning and Development Consultant and VP of Programs to design online trainings as needed.
  • Researches and identifies new opportunities and resources for external trainings, workshops, or seminars appropriate for professional development of program staff.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with Directors, Managers, and staff within all Human Services programs.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs and policy, systems and environmental change interventions designed to support behavior change knowledge transfer.
  • Travels to various LSS Health Center program sites to provide trainings and services.
  • Attends program and agency wide meetings.
  • Prepares appropriate internal and external reports in a regular and timely manner.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Requirements for a Compliance & Training Specialist with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a social services field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous training experience within health and human services programs.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience conducting training/presentations for groups of various sizes.
  • Excellent presentation skills. A resilient personality to handle multiple pressures from a variety of audiences and balance their learning needs in accordance with training objectives.
  • Ability to use multiple instructional strategies to teach to various learning styles (i.e., interactive, multimedia presentations, monitored simulations, problem solving scenarios) to deliver a variety of topics for organization, licensing, funder and CARF requirements and professional development.
  • Knowledgeable with theories of adult learning, ADDIE or other instructional design models
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff and to ask questions or seek direction from supervisory staff when needed.
  • Knowledge of process improvement and evaluation frameworks.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including group facilitation skills required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Works well independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
