Lutheran Church Extension Fund is Hiring a Credit Analyst I Near St. Louis, MO

Organization Profile
The primary mission of Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debt instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following: To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.
Reporting Relationship
Credit Analyst I reports to the Credit Manager.
Summary
The Credit Analyst I is responsible for underwriting and evaluating commercial credit requests from new and existing customers, including Loan Resolution Group restructures/refinances. Underwriting will include financial and credit risk analysis with a concentration on cash flow, collateral evaluation, market data interpretation and identification of key risks and mitigants.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ability to complete financial statement spreads, testing and monitoring borrower compliance with financial covenants and borrowing bases.
  • Responsible for monitoring and collecting covenants and financial requirements for all organizational borrowers.
  • Assist with ongoing monitoring of the loan portfolio.
  • Ensure criteria conform with LCEF’s policies and lending criteria.
  • Confer with potential borrowers or Relationship Managers to verify financial/underwriting criteria.
  • Respond to inquiries from borrowers and Relationship Managers.
  • Enter financial statements into LoanVantage for all borrowers and assist with data entry on new loan requests.
  • Assist with entering collateral information into LoanVantage for all borrowers on new loan requests.
  • Assist with testing releases/upgrades of core systems related to credit department and/or annual review updates.
  • Provide support and assistance as needed for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare credit analysis and loan request summaries detailing risk degree, loan structure and approval recommendations.
  • Assist with annual credit reviews for all borrowers.
  • Assist with follow up on delinquent loan accounts.
  • Assist with special projects and management reports.
  • Assist with all other assignments or projects, as required.
  • Complies with revisions made from time to time, after mutual consultation in position description.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field, preferred.
  • Two years of progressive experience as a credit or financial analyst.
  • Formal credit training, preferred.
  • Residential lending experience, preferred.
