Revenue Cycle Management/Billing Associate:
Revenue Cycle Management/Billing Associate is an entry-level position that provides general billing and administrative support to the Revenue Cycle Management Team. They are responsible for following all standard operating procedures and established billing policy. The RCM/Billing Associate will handle many areas of the reimbursement process including pre-billing, billing and patient follow up. This role is critical to the timeliness and accuracy of claims submissions, their outcomes and revenue collection. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, RCM.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Partner with outsourced billing vendor to ensure strategic execution of our billing and appeals strategy and optimize our reimbursement metrics.
  • Manage daily billing activities and work queues, specifically pre-billing activities such as confirming eligibility, updating missing patient information, obtaining prior authorization, assisting with collecting payment made directly to patients, resolving or escalating cases that require additional action.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and other stakeholders to resolve billing issues and answer inquiries. Represent the department and the organization in a professional manner, in accordance with established company/department standards. Speak with customers and patients in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as client services, lab ops and sales, to ensure accurate and timely billing processes.
  • Assist with the enrollment process with insurance companies to ensure our group is correctly set up in the billing system, able to bill for services and receive response and payments electronically.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date credentialing records in our internal database.
  • Assist with recognizing payer trends, creating reimbursement strategies, and implementing processes to carry out strategies.
  • Attempt to collect payment from patients that receive checks from payers.
  • Support our patients in a compassionate manner when they have billing related questions. Assist with payment collection, financial assistance qualification and setting up payment plans when needed.
  • Manage internal billing email and phone line in collaboration with Client Services team.
  • Analyze weekly and monthly billing to assure ALL sales are captured and accounted for; look for discrepancies and correct immediately. Facilitate reconciliation process with the billing vendor.
  • Assist with various reports showing current trends.
  • Promote continuous improvement and best practice in processes and performance for improving billing, timeliness, and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Follow/Advise on billing policies and procedures for each function in the revenue cycle process.
  • Work with other team members to maximize revenue potential and influence positive coverage decisions.
  • Adhere to all compliance and HIPAA standards.
  • Assist as needed to perform other related duties and special projects as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1 years of prior healthcare reimbursement, billing, finance or customer service experience is required.
  • Minimum some college degree required, Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Business preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal are a must, along with being detail-oriented, and possessing strong problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Experience in billing commercial insurance companies as well as state Medicaid programs and Medicare is preferred.
  • Any billing or coding certification is helpful.
  • Proficient in using and fluent in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data and provide feedback to leadership.
  • Basic knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding, health insurance claims and appeals processes is preferred.
  • Ability to think critically and see the big picture.
  • Must be flexible with tasks and have ability to pivot and adapt to change.
  • Exceptional communication skills, dedicated to outstanding customer service.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks within a given workload.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • All employees are required to have completed an FDA-authorized or approved one or two-dose COVID-19 vaccination course, and any subsequent booster doses at the suggested intervals.
