LSA RECOVERY,INC is Hiring a Youth Peer Advocate Near Brooklyn, NY

Youth Peer Advocates

LSA Recovery, Inc. is an 822 Medically Supervised Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program, which provides a variety of services to individuals as well as family members seeking help with substance abuse and chemical dependence problems*__ We believe that chemical dependence treatment requires a detailed knowledge of the history and personality of each patient. This is accomplished by professional and knowledgeable staff that will conduct a complete and thorough interview with the patient and his/her family, as well as contact with their primary care physician. The data is then evaluated by various professional staff members in order to develop a personalized treatment plan. We organize the plan of care to enable the patient to proceed through the recovery process with a support network, increase their self-esteem, and understand the effects of chemical dependence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Recognize the full continuum of substance use/addictive disorders
  •  Understand the impact of substance use/addiction upon youth and the family
  •  Assist families to understand their rights and responsibilities when children are in residential care, treatment or involved in the criminal justice system
  •  Recognize local and regional trends related to youth substance use/addiction and recovery
  •  Encourage family members to connect with natural support in their communities.  Promote recovery by utilizing empowering , hopeful and optimistic strategies
  •  Develop cultural awareness and knowledge of the unique culture context, health beliefs and practices of families served
  •  Promote the adoption of cultural responsive practices and services.
  •  Practice individualized peer support empowers families to make informed decisions
  •  Develop self-awareness and utilize lived experience to effectively engage the Youth
  •  Navigate local recovery support and treatment options including diverse levels of care and MAT
  •  Encourage family involvement in recovery and treatment activities
  •  Assist families to enhance their skills in promoting recovery and responding to problematic behavior
  •  Collaborate effectively with community stakeholders such as clinical teams, criminal /juvenile justice and social welfare professionals.

Age Range: 18-29 years old

Advocacy - Advocate within systems to promote person- centered recovery/wellness support services.

Mentoring and Education: Serve as a role model for an individual.

Recovery and Wellness Support: Recognizing that there are multiple pathways to recovery/wellness.

Ethical Responsibility: Recognize risk indicators that may affect the individual's welfare and safety.

Qualifications:

CRPA or CRPA-P

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $52,500.00 per year
