What Does a Speech Therapist Do?  As a Speech Therapist with Lower Keys Medical Center, you will spend your day…

• Diagnosing and treating speech and language problems, and engaging in scientific study of human communication.
• Evaluating speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
• Planning, directing, or conducting rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and nonorganic etiology.
• You will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while performing a variety of tasks.
• Also a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Which Qualifications Do You Need?  In order to set you up for success, you need the basics of…

• Requires a master's degree in speech-language pathology and requires a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC).
• You must possess a current FL License.
• You will need to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this field.
• BLS certification required.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Speech Therapist.
