Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, passionate and creative instructor to teach courses in Business for both professional-technical and transfer programs. The successful candidate will teach courses as part of the Business and Leadership pathway at LCC including, but not limited to, courses such as Introduction to Introduction to Business, Project Management, Foundations of Business Success, Salesmanship, Principles of Supervision, Human Resource Management, Management of Human Relations, Principles of Management, Starting/Managing a Small Business, Principles of Marketing and/or Business Math.

As full-time faculty, this position will also advise students, participate in curriculum, and program development, participate in professional development, engage in and perform assessment activities, attend faculty and committee meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

This position will join a team of faculty, staff and administration who are collaborative, innovative, and supportive. The environment strives to foster growth and adapt to an ever evolving learning environment. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities and at various times including online and hybrid with in-person instruction required.

The Faculty position is 173 contract days (fall, winter, spring) with an anticipated start of September 2024. Courses are delivered at various times and through multiple modalities including online and hybrid with in-person instruction required. The salary range is $70,199 to $92,448 based on education and experience. (Please note the salary amount within this posting is reflective of the 2023-24 salary amounts and does not include any legislatively funded COLA for the 2024-25 year). The Business Faculty reports to the Dean of Instructional Programs.

There is required on-site visit on June 5th for applicants selected.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Impart expertise, enthusiasm and creativity in the teaching of Business and related courses.
  • Demonstrate a steadfast commitment to multicultural competence, emphasizing awareness and understanding of historically underserved, underrepresented and/or disinvested communities.
  • Broaden student perspectives by sharing contributions and advancements from cultures not typically represented in the North American experience.
  • Cultivate an educational environment that empowers students' lived experiences.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction both in the classroom and online, adapting to various teaching and learning scenarios.
  • Skillfully integrate instructional technologies into course delivery in all applicable modalities.
  • Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and the accomplishment of course objectives.
  • Offer timely verbal and written feedback to students, including the assessment of assignments.
  • Ensure alignment of Business programs and curriculum with contemporary standards.
  • Sustain the relevance of course content and materials, regularly updating course content and syllabi.
  • Engage effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a collaborative member of the educational team.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor in tandem with the staff advisors, providing comprehensive support such as academic advising, connections to support services, financial aid assistance, guidance for academic plans, and mentorship for career preparation post-program completion.
  • Participate with the advisory committee at least biannually.
  • Meet Washington state vocational certification requirements.
  • Establish and maintain consistent office hours, providing individualized support to students to enhance overall student success.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of students, programs, and the college, analyzing course assessments, evaluations, and data to drive continuous improvement for improved student success, retention, and completion.
  • Actively participate in departmental and college activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business or a related discipline with a minimum of three (3 ) years of industry experience demonstrating knowledge across a variety of sectors.
  • Three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Commitment to serve the needs of students who represent, but not limited to, a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, gender expression and identity, education level, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience using technology to enhance work (Canvas or other appropriate LMS, MS Office Suite, Google Workspace and video conferencing platforms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters’ in Business Administration along with industry experience.
  • College teaching experience in Business or related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of industry experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering training content.
  • Experience using technology to enhance student learning.
  • Experience in owning/operating a business or assisting clients in business start-ups.
  • Expertise in using a Learning Management System such as Canvas.
