JOB TITLE: Assistant Pharmacy Manager

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

REPORTS TO: Pharmacy Manager

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the Assistant Pharmacy Manager will direct pharmacy staff in completing a variety of assignments within the pharmacy department. The Assistant Pharmacy Manager works within general methods and procedures, and exercises considerable independent judgment to select the proper course of action. The Assistant Pharmacy Manager maintains knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the facility's pharmaceutical program and personnel policies and procedures. The Assistant Pharmacy Manager conducts themselves in a professional manner with regards to behavior, telephone courtesy, professional dress and communication with colleagues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

• Assists with supervising and coordinating activities of pharmacy technicians and other employees.
• Complies with 340B regulations as they apply to the pharmacy department.
• Provides exceptional customer service to all patients and clinic staff.
• Fills new prescriptions and refills of medication as requested.
• Assists with inventory control of pharmacy including ordering, maintenance of drug files and return of product.
• Assists with coordinating work assignments of staff including Pharmacy Manager.
• Assists with directing subordinate employees and setting work flow priorities.
• Assists with evaluations of employee performance.
• Assists with identifying areas of improvement and staff training needs.
• Assists with maintaining records, preparing reports and composes correspondence as related to work.
• Consults with prescribers on the use, characteristics and effects of medications.
• Provides leadership to employees.
• Integrate department/workgroup improvement initiatives with Lowell Community Health Center system-wide projects and strategic aims.
• Performs all and any additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Current Pharmacist License in Massachusetts (Must be in good standing)

Education: B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm D. with retail management preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work is in a fast-paced retail pharmacy setting.
• Transition between walking, standing and sitting.
• Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects.
• Travel as deemed appropriate.
