Louisville Metro Housing Authority is Hiring a Chief of Staff Near Louisville, KY

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief of Staff to join our team. The Chief of Staff will play a crucial role in project management, strategic planning, and process improvement within the organization.

Position Duties:

Under the direction of the Executive Director:

  • Responsible for development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned special projects related to a variety of critical LMHA operations, including relocations, reporting, organizational change, and events.
  • Provides leadership for short-and long-range planning for a variety of initiatives: innovation, vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
  • Responsible for collaborating with key organizational leadership, helping to drive forward the completion of multi-pronged and complex tasks that focus on the long-term viability of the organization.
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring performance of various projects, ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed as required in order to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Builds strong and valuable relationships with local and regional partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to improve the LMHA’s public reputation and bring valuable resources to the LMHA.
  • Provides budget and planning support to various Departments as assigned by the Executive Director, and works to bridge gaps between departments, divisions, and individuals.
  • Evaluates and recommends vendor contracts for a variety of projects, finding vendors that can deliver needed services as needed.
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned staff (if necessary) to ensure that all organizational activities are undertaken and completed promptly.
  • Collect and analyze various information related to organizational performance, including project completion timeliness, organizational efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support the relationship between LMHA and the constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and LMHA staff.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required and/or assigned.

Desired Knowledge and Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Knowledge of principles of project management methodologies and the ability to implement those methodologies.
  • Knowledge of a variety of modern technologies and the ability to oversee large scale program and equipment implementations.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prepare budgets.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain records.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public policy, social service, or urban planning or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience managing and supervising staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective dialogue with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific program software (e.g., Yardi).
