The coordinator plays a key role in the advancement of departmental and divisional priorities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE
  • Serve as an advocate for the fraternity and sorority experience with various stakeholders to include campus partners, alumni, families, inter/national Headquarters.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP
Emphasis on curriculum design and the student learning experience
A primary goal for Greek Life at LSU is to provide intentional out-of-classroom learning experiences that support the development of the community. The Coordinator will support these efforts by standardizing the learning goals for all programs and services through curriculum and program design.
Cross-functional fraternity and sorority advising
Holistically supporting all members of a sorority and fraternity community requires an unconventional approach to Greek Life work. The Coordinator has the opportunity to implement strategies that are high impact, relevant, moves the entire community forward, and that cuts across any singular council, by utilizing a cross-functional approach to serving students, and allowing advisement across all councils and chapters.
Cultivate a collaborative health and safety model
Fostering a safe and healthy sorority and fraternity community is difficult and requires strategic and coordinated efforts—it can be done. At this critical juncture for the LSU sorority and fraternity community, the elimination of hazing and other high-risk behaviors is top priority. Simultaneously, there is an opportunity to build a culture of care and concern by creating a model of education and peer accountability, that draws from research and public health strategies.
ATTRIBUTES OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Maintains a deep appreciation for the educational and social value of a diverse community and maintains commitment to providing inclusive and accessible programs, services, events, and experiences
Does not start with “no” when addressing student concerns or requests, but instead works to find innovative ways to solve problems and meet student needs
Embraces a “progress not perfection” approach when working with college students understanding that every situation provides a teachable moment
Possesses the ability to navigate complex systems while building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
Can communicate with clarity, direction, and conviction in person, in written communication, and in virtual spaces
