The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Coordinator, Community Engagement for our Education & Programs department. The Coordinator, Community Engagement works closely with the Associate Director, Community Engagement at the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Provides logistical and administrative support to the Community Engagement office, including oversight of the community event request form, supports maintenance of offsite engagement kits, ordering office supplies, generating reports, filing, data entry, and writing the correspondence as needed. Coordinates, produces, and distributes a bi-monthly recap on Community Engagement programs, monthly newsletter, and data reporting.
Facilitates Community Engagement programs and supports Program Managers in the production of larger programs such as Partners in Commons, Being Los Angeles initiative, Wild LA Outdoor Equity programs, and Partner Weekends. Co-facilitate, along with Program Managers, Community Partner co-created programs and visits to the Museums. Provide classroom support and facilitation of programs, help coordinate meetings with external visitors for Partners in Commons, and Community Engagement onsite and offsite programming.
Contract, invoice, and payment tracking for Partners in Commons and Being Los Angeles initiative, and support the Finance Manager for scanning Community Engagement invoices as needed.
Communicate bi-weekly calendar updates to the Museum at large, including fielding general program inquiries on behalf of the department.
Coordinate projects and teams and secure information on the status of pending matters and reasons for the delay in the completion of projects within the division as directed by the supervisor.
Produces attendance and demographic reports as needed.
Coordinates Community Engagement's content on the website and related event pages.
This position has the following requirements:
Background and/or coursework in education, history or the natural sciences; a related bachelor’s degree is preferred
One or more years of experience in an education-related setting
Ability and willingness to learn about the Museum, its mission, and its exhibits in order to interpret and explain the various concepts demonstrated in the programs and exhibits
Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment
Ability to interact in a friendly, professional manner with visitors from diverse backgrounds.
Proficient computer skills, including presentation software
Availability to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis and evenings as needed
Demonstrated aptitude to be a part of a team-centered, guest-focused environment.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience and commitment working with a diverse community. Hourly range for this position is $21.00 - $22.68 based on experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full time regular, non-exempt position.
