Los Alamos National Laboratory is Hiring a Print Production Specialist 2 (Digital Print Scanning Specialist 2) Near Los Alamos, NM

What You Will Do
Help drive the future of print media at one of the world's most prestigious and innovative multidisciplinary research institutions. Join the Multimedia Production (CEA-MP) group's Print Production team at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to inform, engage, and inspire LANL's internal and external audiences through the printing of media products. This specialized role will coordinate print requests through the Government Publishing Office (GPO) and maintain Laboratory design and brand standards through prepress quality checks of customer artwork.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
To be a successful candidate, you will need to have the following skills:
Technical Knowledge
Experience operating general office equipment including various media scanning equipment and computer front-end equipment is important. As well as a thorough understanding of how to prepare and produce digitized files from print or other media.
Software Knowledge
You will need working knowledge of print design, bleed requirements, and related software (Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office).
Quality Control
Experience in monitoring products for quality control and maintaining schedule requirements is essential.
Material Handling
Knowledge of materials and best practices for producing displays, publications, environmental installations, and marketing items is an important job function as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills
Exceptional communication and customer service skills will contribute to your success in this position. The ability to positively contribute to the culture and evolving business model of a small team is also essential. Must have a security and safety-first mindset.
Customer relations
In this role, you must have a demonstrated ability to analyze stakeholder and user needs and determine the structure, content, and format of communication products that best meet those needs.
Collaboration
Collaboration is critical in this position, so you will need experience working as a productive member of an interdisciplinary team, including the demonstrated ability to develop solutions for a wide range of complex problems while effectively networking with peers inside and outside the organization.
Project management
Project management, including establishing and maintaining budgets and schedules, is an important part of this position. To be successful, you need to have personal project management experience in guiding strategic, multi-faceted, and iterative projects with a collaborative mindset.
Technical communication
In this role, you will need outstanding written and oral communication skills and the capacity to understand and interpret technical concepts.
Education/Experience: This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Clearance: You will have the ability to obtain a Q clearance, which typically requires US citizenship.

  • Experience with customer request management systems.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM. with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q/SCI(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
