Los Alamos National Laboratory is Hiring a Commercialization Strategy Development Graduate Student Near Los Alamos, NM

What You Will Do
Join the Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation (FCI) to support developers of early-stage technology on their journey to commercial success for U.S. economic impact. While supporting commercialization strategy development and innovation initiatives, you will work within a small direct team, across a cross-functional organization, to define market opportunities and technology transition for Laboratory technologies. The intern will interact with different teams responsible for supporting key components of technology commercialization - identifying technology opportunities and market applications to understanding IP strategies and defining market opportunities - to gain exposure to the complete commercialization process. Project will include, but are not limited to, performing technology and market assessment to update communication assets, analyzing consumer trends, the industry landscape, and corporate realities to develop technology roadmaps and associated product-market fit strategies for priority projects and assessing the effectiveness of the technology commercialization programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
We are looking for a creative, proactive, and enthusiastic graduate intern with a solution-oriented mindset with the ability to change course quickly in a high-paced environment.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing projects and activities.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct market and/or customer requirements research and to communicate results and associated impacts.
  • U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident required.
Education/Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in Engineering, Business, Finance, or similar background.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent).
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Science/tech interest and background.
  • Previous business experience (preferably in a start-up environment).
  • Leadership and decision-making skills.
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos NM,with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
