SUMMARY OF POSITION

We are seeking a driven and disciplined Project Engineer to join our growing team in Dillsburg, PA. The Project Engineer is responsible for providing construction management including administrative and technical support to Project Managers. Duties include technical documentation, jobsite communications with the Foreman and subcontractors, scheduling and cost analysis. Work is primarily in South Central PA, Maryland and surrounding areas.

A successful candidate preferably will possess an Engineering or Construction Management degree or background along with applicable field experience, strong computer & communication skills and a willingness to learn.

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reads and interprets complex construction documents and drawings
  • Reviews and processes properly transmitted contract documents
  • Assists in the preparation and issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Organizes and maintains contract documents and shop drawings
  • Assists with the preparation of all change order requests for the client’s approval; coordinate the estimating of all change orders with the project estimator or subcontractor; assist with the documentation of all field directives from the owner or architect that change the scope or original design of the contract documents
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the project schedule
  • Updates the project schedule as directed
  • Monitors field productions and assists in preparing production reports and costs to complete as directed
  • Properly codes material and subcontractor invoices
  • Assists project manager with subcontractor and material supplier coordination
  • Organizes and maintains contract documents and shop drawings
  • Setups and maintains job files
  • Monitors all long lead items and notifies the project manager of any problems
  • Assists in the preparation of the project close-out manuals
  • Assists in developing a project punch list as well as assuring that all items on the list are complete in a timely manner

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior field construction experience; concrete is preferred
  • 2 to 4-year post-secondary degree; is preferred
  • Strong ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently and meet necessary deadlines
  • Must have experience with Microsoft products such as word, excel and outlook
  • Must follow all company rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, etc.
