Longwood Gardens is seeking a full-time Live Goods Procurement Coordinator to be responsible for all Live Goods purchasing for the Horticulture team. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring Longwood’s high standards of excellence are met in all plants and products purchased. Specific responsibilities include:
•Purchasing plants requested by the Horticulture team
•Evaluating and selecting vendors based on best practices, reliability, and plant quality standards.
•Monitoring and negotiating prices and suppliers, in addition to cultivating new and existing vendor relationships.
•Tracking and receiving orders, ensuring that all purchased plants meet Longwood’s high-quality standards.
•Exercising fiscal responsibility and maintaining garden design integrity by ensuring orders are made in advance and communicating proactively
•Maximizing order consolidations from single suppliers where possible.
•Coordinating across teams to resolve substitutions or changes to orders as efficiently as possible.
•Processing invoices
•Assisting the development and administration of vendor contracts.
•Supporting the developing and monitoring of budgets for the team
We seek an individual with proven ability to work in a fast-paced, and collaborative environment. The ability to think critically about purchasing processes while coordinating and communicating with staff is required. The ideal candidate will have:
•A minimum of 3 years of relevant supply chain and horticulture experience
•Background in horticulture and plant production
•Cost accounting skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
•Experience working within a purchasing software system
•Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
•A proven track record with leveraging purchasing power is a plus
