Job Summary: The Coordinator RN-Cardiac Quality and Data serves in a Magnet Recognized tertiary academic medical center with level one trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center accreditation facility. Assists Transplantation Institute leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive quality and safety infrastructure for the department. Supports leadership with facilitation of quality and safety initiatives and programs that rely on data and statistical analysis, monitoring, reporting, process mapping, gap analysis, flowcharts, root cause analysis, and failure mode effects analysis. Demonstrates expertise in database management and maintains database information as required by the Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN). Provides leadership teams and quality committees with a systematic and logical approach to the decision-making process to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes. Applies solid analytical skills to the interpretation of highly specialized data. Collects and synthesizes data to determine and monitor trends. Builds meaningful reports and succinctly transforms big picture concepts into concrete tangible information for variety of different groups. Ensures data is accurate, complete, valid, reliable, and objective. Supports the continuous journey of nursing excellence in practice and participates in maintaining Magnet designation as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Maintains extensive knowledge of all applicable regulatory standards and collaborates with leadership to ensure standards are met by monitoring compliance and reporting results to designated individuals and committees. Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum three years cardiac nursing experience required. 

Knowledge and Skills: Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) requirements, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, data management, statistical analysis, problem-solving methodologies, information technology, medical staff structure and legal aspects of cardiac transplant required. Knowledge of adult learning principles, management patient safety programs that are data-driven and utilize tools such as the rapid cycle testing, Lean, and Six Sigma. Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nursing (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
