Lockhart Independent Sch Dist is Hiring a Content Specialist (2024-2025 SY) Near Lockhart, TX

Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations while modeling these district values and oversee assigned student activities and services.

Primary Purpose:

Provide district staff with appropriate professional learning, exemplary learning activities and content in academic subjects to help students fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Masters’ preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate (ELAR Preferred)

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned (ELAR Preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

3 years teaching experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Collaborate with all teachers for curriculum support around lesson planning, unit planning, exemplar lessons, delivery and assessment (Create needs-based resources for teachers/ Writing lessons along with/for teachers based on guidelines/TEKs)
  2. Create scope and sequences with suggested concept calendars that include built in enrichment time
  3. Support the effective use of digital learning tools to increase rigor and engagement through PD as well as respond to teachers' individual academic technology needs. 
  4. Write and vet CBA/ assessments that are aligned with state mandates and scope and sequences
  5. Assist and Lead district level trainings
  6. Facilitate campus walkthroughs and visits - Lead/ Facilitate learning walks to ensure variety 
  7. Support PLCs through professional learning and instructional strategy support
  8. Coach and model of instructional strategies including responding to TIPS requests 
  9. Update SBRC guidelines 
  10. Facilitate Focus Groups for C and I survey
  11. Coordinate Curriculum (summer) writing and vet lessons
  12. Support Textbook Adoptions
  13. Collaborate with the Student Support Lead around RTI

Other Responsibilities

  1. Organization of professional learning
  2. Planning and creating informational products for district staff and families 
  3. Attending professional learning to remain knowledgeable of state mandates and standards updates
  4. Staying current with new technology trends and advising usage for campus staff 
  5. Participate and support district advisory boards
  6. Maintain and create professional networks
  7. Campus technology support
  8. Campus registration 
  9. Support campus based programming

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

None.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
