Your impact:
Serve as project manager, deputy project manager, and major task lead on Transportation Projects
Guide multi-disciplinary teams in delivery of transportation projects
Lead the preparation of NEPA-related compliance documents and technical reports/deliverables
Provide research and analysis for transportation projects
Execute and deliver high-quality work products, on schedule
Prepare documents under NEPA, in compliance with FHWA, IDOT regulations among other federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations, including Section 106 (National Historic Preservation Act), Section 7 (Endangered Species Act), Section 404 (Clean Water Act), and Section 4(f) (US Department of Transportation Act)
Lead staff in preparation of visuals such as maps, diagrams, tables, charts, reports, models, infographics, and 3D illustrations for presentation of project information
Lead public involvement and multi-agency stakeholder meetings in support of project work
Coordinate with clients, resource/regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and technical staff in a confident and professional manner.
Manage client relationships and perform business development functions
Stay current on the latest transportation planning subject matter, policies, regulations, and techniques.
Serve as a Local, Regional and National resource for Lochner transportation planning projects
Hire would report to Lochner’s Chicago office
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Who you are:
10 years of experience working in the transportation planning field.
AICP Certification (preferred)
Completion of degree in Transportation planning, Environmental policy, Environmental science, Engineering, Biology or related field
Experience authoring Environmental Assessment and/or Environmental Impact Statement NEPA documents
Expertise with relevant environmental and transportation laws, permitting requirements, notification and compliance practices
Exceptional writing and verbal skills, specifically with NEPA documents
Strong communication and research skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with a collaborative team
Ability to collaborate with other environmental and engineering staff to perform NEPA-related research, data collection and document preparation for transportation clients
Experience managing multi-disciplinary transportation projects of varying scales
Experience coordinating with clients, stakeholder agencies, and the general public
Proficiency with technical writing, communication software, technology, and tools.

Work Environment
