Position at Leman Manhattan Preparatory School
Key Responsibilities:
(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)
Directing the 4th and 5th Grade Bands
Teaching group lessons to 4th - 8th grade students on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments from beginner to intermediate levels
Supporting the Middle and High School Band classes
Directing school concerts as well as off-campus performances
Preparing students for NYSSMA solo and ensemble festivals
Supporting and sponsoring activities/events outside of the typical school day, including directing after-school ensembles and possible private lesson teaching
Being a collaborative, contributing team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as the Lower School and Upper School divisions
Growing professionally in order to meet the changing responsibilities of the position

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; Music Education degree preferred
Experience in teaching elementary music students in a school setting
Experience in teaching woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments
Experience in using technology in the music classroom
Familiarity with curriculum design
Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
