About Our Clinic 

With over 30 years of pediatric therapy experience, LLA Therapy’s motto is: Helping Kids Shine Their Brightest! In order to accomplish our goal we pride ourselves on effective and streamlined communication, ongoing mentoring and support, collaboration between our core therapeutic disciplines (assistive tech, intervention specialists, speech, ABA, OT, and PT), and providing our professionals with the materials and tools they need to succeed. 

Essential Accountabilities for the Dyslexia - Reading Specialist (CALT, CALP, C-SLDI, C-SLDS) 

  • Review comprehensive evaluation reports, data and academic/clinical samples. 
  • Administer skills assessments for baseline documentation. 
  • Integrate visual auditory and motor processing with understanding of the structure of the English language. 
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and materials to match the client’s unique learning profile. 
  • Document, monitor, and analyze the client’s progress and effects of treatment.
  • Communicate and provide family training on the client’s individualized treatment plans.
  • Consult and collaborate with family, and other staff or supports (i.e physician, school district, other therapies).
  • Create and submit all reporting, including appropriate recommendations ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other reading therapists.
  • Serve as a resource for other therapists with regard to best practices.
  • Maintain organization and structure with changes in treatment plans and materials. Communicate expectations between therapist and families. 
  • Ensure organizational flow is maintained with changes to policies, procedures, instructions, and best practices.
  • Assist with providing a safe and positive environment for all clients and staff.
  • Maintain effective communications with all internal and external stakeholders including clients, families, co-workers and leadership. 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in special education or related field. Intervention Specialist background preferred, not required. 
  • Dyslexia credential [e.g., Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP), Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist (C-SLDS), Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI)]
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Ohio Department of Education certification (can be completed upon hire)
  • Experience with Individual Education Plans (IEP’s).
  • FBI and BCI background check (can be completed upon hire)
  • Professional Liability Insurance, recommended by governing body.
  • Positive and goal oriented, willing to accept the challenge of new assignments and be able to work well with others.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on teamwork, customer service, and safe working practices. 
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations.
  • Compatible with company culture and core values.
