Lively Law Firm is Hiring a Case Manager/Legal Assistant Near Greenville, SC

We seek a Bilingual Case Manager or Legal Assistant who shares our dedication to lawful immigration and advocacy. Case Manager/Legal Assistant is responsible for presentations and conducting legal screenings promptly and accurately. This role involves managing case flows, compiling application packages, completing relevant forms, putting together packages for review, carrying out administrative tasks, supporting the legal team, and ensuring respectful and dignified client treatment. The ideal candidate will also have a strong interest in working with youth, specifically detained youth, and experience serving trauma victims or other vulnerable populations- hybrid (weekly independent travel to shelters in Columbia and Greenville, SC). This role works under the direct supervision of the Supervising Paralegal.

Spanish language proficiency is required.

Classification: Full-time, non-exempt
Location: Hybrid, with travel to shelters in Columbia, SC, (2x) per week and Greenville (1x) a week.
Hours of Operation: (9 am - 5 pm) Monday- Friday
Hourly Rate: $23 per hour

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Know Your Rights Presentations, individualized legal screenings, and pre-court orientations for children and teens in the appropriate language, most commonly Spanish.
  • Engage in ongoing grant compliance activities, daily client service data management, and maintain clear and detailed records to facilitate reporting and case management.
  • Obtain necessary documentation and information and draft summaries for the legal team.
  • Initiate contact post-case assignment, gather biographic data, and maintain timely communication. Notify clients of upcoming appointments, deadlines, required documentation, and other individual aspects of the case.
  • Accurately complete required forms and gather documents for each case. Translate documents and certify translations. Elevate awareness of any delayed cases.
  • Assemble and provide complete case packets for review.
  • Draft client statements under the direct supervision of the responsible attorney. Assist in drafting legal documents, preliminary statements, and cover letters. Provide translation services for attorneys in person and over the phone.
  • Provide an accurate daily report of tasks and hours worked.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant (2) years of experience in a similar position, Social Worker, Someone who has worked with youth and/or within immigration law.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is required: strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with the ability to travel weekly to designated locations.
  • Experience with youth, trauma survivors, or other vulnerable populations (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, database management, and Internet applications.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and detailed reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
  • Passion for and sensitivity to working with diverse communities.
