I. Basic Function

Driving for Trinity Air Medical (TAM) means being at the forefront of an operation that saves lives every day. TAM drivers report to the Ground Transportation Supervisor and are responsible for providing outstanding customer service to surgical teams. Drivers also perform timely pick-ups and drop offs of samples and specimens and maintenance of office and fleet at TAM. Trinity Air Medical (TAM) is a 24/7 operation that provides a critical service to the organ donation and transplantation community. The role of driver is critical in ensuring the organization’s ability to carry out its mission in service to Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO’s) and Transplant Centers. The role of On Call Driver at Trinity Air Medical (TAM) is responsible for the day to day logistical operations required by its customers.

II. Essential Functions

A. Expectations:

a. Driver will be expected to report to the Ground Transportation Supervisor for day to day operations.

b. Provide professional ground transportation for TAM customers.

c. Team transport- driver will be asked to provide ground transport for customers to/from hospitals and airports. It is expected that the driver attends to all needs of the team including catering requests, providing en-route snacks/drinks and delivering door to door in a safe and efficient manner.

d. Specimen transport- driver will be asked to pick up and deliver blood specimens/organs/scans to hospitals and laboratories. It is expected that the driver is on time, handles the specimen with the utmost care, and delivers to the proper delivery station.

e. OPO deliveries- driver will asked to pick up and deliver items, equipment, paper work and other necessities to and from donor headquarters and hospitals. It is expected that the driver is on time, handles cargo with the utmost care, and delivers to the proper delivery station.

f. TAM business- driver will be asked to perform daily driving functions for TAM- driving guests, servicing vehicles, picking up equipment, special events, etc.

B. Vehicle Operation and TAM responsibilities

a. Driver will demonstrate good working knowledge of all vehicles.

b. Driver will be expected to obey all traffic laws and operate all vehicles in a safe manner.

c. Driver will be expected to perform daily vehicle and facilities inspections compliant with processes outlined by Ground Transporation Supervisor.

d. Driver will be expected to perform all office duties outlined by the Driver Operations Manager (cleaning of bay/vehicles, trashes, shift pass-off, etc).

e. Documentation and communication

f. Driver will be expected to maintain communication with logistics coordinators during any job function, alerting them to any delays, vehicle issues or customer issues.

g. Driver will be expected to keep their status up to date at all times during any job function. This includes commenting/documenting any special instructions or scenarios.

h. Driver will be expected to report any issues regarding fleet to the appropriate supervisor.

C. On Call driving

a. Driver will be expected to respond to logistics coordinators in no more than 10 minutes if contacted for check in or a job function.

b. Driver will be expected to have appropriate full uniform/shoes with them in the event they are not responding from home.

c. Driver will be expected to have a working cell phone/in service contact number at all times. This includes remaining in areas with full cell coverage and ability to respond.

d. Driver will be expected to communicate any issues/delays with performing calls at any given time of the day (appointments, late coming off of second job, etc).

D. Other

a. Driver will be expected to show up well rested and able to drive continuously for the duration of the shift without putting themselves or passengers at risk.

b. Driver will be expected to be well groomed and maintain professional presentation per TAM uniform policy.

c. Driver will be expected to submit a minimum availability of 12 full shifts per quarter (3 months).

d. Driver must demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively by phone and email to accurately provide a high level of service.

e. Driver must demonstrate an ability to make effective decisions.

f. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to critically problem solve.

g. Adheres to all policies and procedures to ensure a high level of service.

h. Adheres to all documentation requirements for TAM customers.

i. Participates in ongoing training and development.

j. Must develop a basic understanding of OPO and transplant center language as well as aviation and ground language.

k. Regular attendance at departmental meetings is required.

l. Demonstrates TAM core values at all times.

m. Represents TAM brand in a positive manner in all external communications.

n. Contribute to the success and performance of the team and organization by achieving key performance metrics.

o. Perform other duties as assigned.

III. Qualifications

A. Education/Experience

a. High School diploma/GED

B. Skills/Aptitudes

a. Knowledge of TAM policies andprocedures

b. Knowledge of medical terminology related to donation and transplantation

c. Must be able to apply learned knowledge to the job.

d. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

e. Must display integrity, initiative, perseverance, flexibility, teamwork, empathy, and persuasiveness.

f. Must be able to critically think through all aspects of the dispatch process and make decisions in the best interests of both TAM as well as our Partners

g. Must be very organized and able to coordinate projects.

h. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s license.

i. Requires the ability to work under stress with numerous interruptions, distractions and changing priorities.

j. Must be able to communicate effectively with all members of medical teams.

C. Physical and Mental Requirements

a. Must have command of the English language and be able to speak clearly to convey information to business contacts and other TAM employees over the phone and in person.

b. Must be a proficient and safe driver with a clean 39 month driving record and license.

c. Must be able to lift minimum of 50lbs

d. Must be able to sit for at least eight hours a day.
