Live Oak Veterinary Hospital is seeking to add a part-time veterinary receptionist/assistant to our team. We are a small well-established two-doctor practice with a loyal client base. Our doctors consist of a father-daughter team.
A minimum of one year of experience in a veterinary hospital is required and the salary will be commensurate with experience. Our ideal candidate has prior experience working with animals, an interest in veterinary medicine, an advanced knowledge of medical equipment, and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
The ability to multitask in an office setting is essential, as all staff members are cross-trained at the front desk. As a member of our team duties would include managing the telephones, answering client questions/providing client education when appropriate, scheduling appointments, basic cleaning, and assisting with animal medical care. Whether working at the front desk or in an exam room, companion animal knowledge is necessary for the position. This includes but is not limited to vaccine protocols, preventatives, and services related to routine pet care to provide the best possible experience for our clients and their pets entrusted to our care.
Physical demands:
The role involves extended periods of sitting, standing, stretching, and bending. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The position requires lifting animals onto examination and surgical tables.
Work Environment:
Standard office and surgical/hospital environment, with exposure to hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects. Potential for exposure to parasites and infectious diseases that can be carried and transmitted by animals.
