WIC Program Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Manage the activities of the clinic staff for the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program. The WIC Program Manager is responsible for various administrative clinic operations such as scheduling staff, supervising and mentoring clinic leads and clinic staff, completing staff evaluations, and maintaining the SCWIC scheduler. Assists with implementation and evaluation of nutrition education program within established Federal, State and divisional guidelines and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:
  • Actively participants in Regional budget meetings and is included in the approval process of WIC purchases, travel and personnel funding. Knowledge of federal funding guidelines and grant deliverables. Ensure Breastfeeding and Nutrition Education expenditure requirements are compliant with federal guidelines.
  • Supervises the WIC Coordinator(s), CPA staff, and Regional Breastfeeding Coordinator.
  • Assesses the quality of nutrition/breastfeeding care and nutrition/breastfeeding education for the Region.
  • Reviews all WIC Program activities in local WIC clinics to assure compliance with federal regulations and state policies and procedures. Evaluates results of reviews and takes necessary action to correct deficiencies. Conducts reviews at a minimum of 20% of the regional WIC sites per year.
  • Assures program guidelines and performance measures are monitored, reporting progress, and implementing quality improvement activities based on program indicators.
  • Directs orientation of WIC staff and ensures all mandatory trainings are received by WIC staff in the Region, including annual administrative, nutrition education, breastfeeding and Civil Rights/Customer Services trainings. Periodically assesses staff training needs and assures that the identified training needs are met.
  • Serves as the liaison between the WIC sites and the community.
  • Assures that a systematic approach for appointing participants for nutrition education activities is implemented to ensure that the nutrition requirements of the WIC Program are fulfilled.
  • Assures the ID cards and EBT cards are stored in secure locations in all local WIC clinics and designates one person responsible for security in each location.
  • Assures coordination and integration of services, i.e., certification, nutrition education and FI issuance available at the same time.
  • Assures adequate clinic appointments are available to serve WIC needs/requests. Initiates the resolution of fair hearing requests prior to a formal request.

  • Interprets current policy and procedures to WIC staff.
  • Responds to recommendations made in WIC site reviews performed by agency personnel, auditors, or USDA reviewers.
  • Assures that all local WIC clinics are in compliance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
  • Attends bi-monthly WIC Program Managers’ Meeting.
  • Monitors participation status monthly and provides guidance and recommendations to WIC sites.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Valid driver’s license
  • RD, RN, or LPN license preferred
  • Professional license/certification as appropriate
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree minimum, preferably in, but not limited to, Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Business.
  • 1-3 years WIC experience with demonstrated ability in supervising professional and Paraprofessional staff preferred.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for in-state travel.
  • Professional license/certification as appropriate.

Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift 8am-5pm
  • Monday to Friday
  • Full-Time 40 hours a week.
  • This is a hybrid position, in our Loris office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
