Little Explorers Learning Academy is Hiring an Assistant Director of Child Care Center Near Pittsburgh, PA

Little Explorers Learning Academy is a new and growing childcare business in Pittsburgh, PA. As the Assistant Director, you will work with the Director to oversee the center's day-to-day operations while inspiring the teachers to create high-quality programming in each classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensures the facility is a safe and fun place for children to learn.
  • Interacts with children appropriately in accordance with established Positive Guidance policies and procedures.
  • Works with director to assure staff is competent, caring, and qualified to work with designated age group.
  • Supports established communication system and development of team work.
  • Assists with regular staff meetings and on-going trainings.
  • Assists with ensuring safe operations to include sanitary bathrooms, kitchen, and classrooms, posting of evacuation plan in each classroom, and arranges for repairs as required.
  • Consults with teachers regarding any difficulties in meeting certain children's needs, parent and/or guardian complaints, or concerns.
  • Assists with enrollment and conducting tours of the facility on an as-needed basis.
  • Ensure center and staff are in compliance with PA DHS regulations and any other accrediting bodies.
  • Conducts regular classroom observations and provides feedback.
  • Reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate party for follow through.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises teaching staff. Responsibilities include training, observing, and providing ongoing feedback to employees, appraising performance, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All applicants must be able to obtain Act 33/34, FBI, and NSOR clearances, and complete a physical screening.

Education/Experience: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and at least 3 years experience in center-based childcare working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children required. Prior experience in a childcare leadership position strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities: Leadership, management, interpersonal communication, oral and written communication, professionalism, compassion, patience, problem solving skills.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
