HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for processing payroll and assisting with the administration of employee benefits programs. Additionally, this position assists the Human Resources (HR) Director with key HR initiatives such as, but not limited to: Strategic planning; Management of staffing (hiring, retention, & termination); Personnel records; Legal compliance with state and federal laws and regulations; Wage and salary administration; Compensation and benefits; Paid Time Off administration; Performance appraisals; Employee relations; Managing personnel policies and procedures, job descriptions, and classifications; Employee engagement; Employee Training/development; and Providing support for employee safety, health, and morale programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Certification / License:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field (Preferred).
Experience:
- 2-3 years of HR experience (Preferred).
- Experience with time/attendance, payroll, benefits, and/or workman’s compensation
programs (Preferred)
- Experience in the produce industry or a similar fast-paced environment (Preferred).
Special Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Bilingual English & Spanish (Required)
- Knowledge of HR best practices, employment-related laws, & compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Knowledge of wage and salary, benefits, and performance appraisal administration.
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, &
voluntary benefits).
- Experience with recruitment and on/off-boarding programs.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, conflict resolution, & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, think creatively, and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams & influence decision making.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement to achieve operational
excellence.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- TIME & ATTENDANCE: Collects and validates timekeeping information; Coordinates as
necessary to resolve timekeeping discrepancies; and Prepares timekeeping data for payroll
processing.
- PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION: Assists with or manages payroll administration.
- REPORTING AND COMPLIANCE: Prepares payroll reports for management, accounting, and
regulatory purposes; Assists with payroll and/or timekeeping related audits and compliance
reviews.
- BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION: Assists with or manages the administration of employee
benefit programs.
- RECRUITMENT & ON/OFF-BOARDING: Manages recruitment and On/Off-Boarding
programs.
- WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION: Manages Workman’s Compensation program.
- STRATEGIC HR INITIATIVES: Assists HR Director with developing and/or managing strategic
HR initiatives (example: HR metrics, HR Continuity binder, position control system, employee
surveys, stay interviews, salary survey, etc.) to elevate HR's overall support of business
operations.
