Job description

Position: Full-time
Location: Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
Wage: $18.00/hour
Benefits: Health, dental, vision insurance, flex spending, and life insurance options, paid time-off, and annual raises.

We are looking for a full-time, detailed, dependable, and motivated Foster Care/Certification Worker to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a caseload.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management services to youth in care, training foster parents, and certification of foster families
  • Develop a mutually respectful partnership with the persons served, as well as with their families, to assist them in gaining skills and confidence to address any issues or problems they face.
  • Collaborate with agencies interested in placing children in Listening Ear foster homes and perform outreach activities, as needed
  • Assist with foster home recruitment and foster parent training
  • Conduct intakes, assessments, and develop person-centered treatment plans to address needs, including but not limited to: emotional, social, cultural/spiritual, and physical needs, safety skills training, recovery after trauma, and parent/guardian support
  • Assign, complete, and approve all licensing special evaluations, annuals, and renewals
  • Maintain a caseload of foster care and/or licensing cases
  • Meet and support foster parents and families, providing on-call assistance, as needed
  • Maintain the role of a leader, set limits, and intervene appropriately with staff, persons served and/or other family members
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Ensure program compliance with licensing rules, accreditation standards and contract requirements
  • Complete required documentation, reporting, and billing, as needed
  • Provide information and referrals when appropriate, testify in court as required, and advocate for the clients and their families
  • Participate on Agency committees and in monthly licensing or DHHS calls

Requirements:

  • Must have a conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change
  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field (social work, psychology, etc.)
  • Complete certification and State of Michigan required supervisory training
  • Must pass all necessary training, tests, and exams required by the State, any government agency, or the employer
  • Michigan Driver’s License
