LISTEN Community Services is Hiring a Donation Center Assistant Manager Near Lebanon, NH

Position: Donation Center Assistant Manager

Reports to: Donation Center Manager, Retail Store Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Compensation: $21/ per hour

Objectives: In collaboration with Donation Center Manager supervise Donation Center operations, including the receiving, processing, and distribution of donated goods. Model and enforce value of donor and volunteer relationships. Build and maintain a positive workplace environment among all stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilities, Safety and Security

  • Maintain sorting facility efficiency by seeking continuous improvements and implementing optimal design layouts. Ensure that safety and security measures are followed.
  • Provide a clean, safe, accessible workspace for staff and volunteers.
  • Identify needed maintenance projects and make recommendations to Donation Center Manager or Retail Director.

Personnel Management

  • Collaborate with Donation Center Manager in Supervising, training, and evaluating Donation Center staff.
  • Identify staffing needs and recommend changes to the Donation Center Manager.
  • Assist in communicating established personnel policies and operating procedures to Donation Center employees and volunteers while monitoring compliance.
  • Make recommendations for procedural changes to the Donation Center Manager

Donor and Volunteer Relations

  • Greet, thank, and assist donors, bringing in donations as needed.
  • Provide donors with tax receipts for their charitable contributions.
  • Provide clear and consistent information to the public about donating to LISTEN.
  • Provide support and cooperation to volunteers to make the best use of their time and talents for LISTEN.

Inventory Management

  • Supervise sorting and pricing of donations for either immediate sale, storage, recycling, or waste.
  • Ensure fair and consistent pricing in accordance with pricing policies.
  • In the absence of the Donation Center Manager coordinate with Store Managers to provide needed inventory for each location.
  • In the absence of the Donation Center Manager coordinates, with Warehouse Manager to prepare for special sales by requesting reserved inventory. Actively work to minimize and create procedural efficiencies of LISTEN’s non-sellable product.

Other

  • Participate in staff meetings and training.
  • Other duties at the discretion of the Donation Manager, Retail Store Manager and Retail Director.

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the benefits (medical, dental, vision) after 60 days of employment, and 401k after 90 days of employment. Employees are also eligible for accrual of Paid Time Off.

Minimum Requirements

  • Positive, compassionate attitude and strong desire to help others.
  • Previous supervisory experience (5-7 years) in a retail or production environment required.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Respect for and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Responsible, respectful approach to the job and the team.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting.
  • Willingness to provide information for background check processing.

Experience: Previous experience working in retail and customer service is required.

Cognitive Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers and donors. The employee is frequently required to use written communication and is occasionally required to use math skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential to job functions. Ability to diplomatically deal with demanding situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to be on their feet, walking and standing. The employee is frequently required to reach, handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation). The employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb stairs, push, and pull. The employee is rarely required to crouch, kneel, crawl, balance, twist, stretch and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move between 25-50lbs and minimally required to lift and/or move between 50-100 lbs.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be continuously exposed to noise and will occasionally be exposed to fumes (cleaning solutions) and dust (from sweeping and dusting). The employee will also experience various seasonal temperatures while working with donors bringing their donations from outside to inside the sorting area. The sorting area has some environmental control but is exposed to outside temperatures when doors are open.
