Job Summary:
Purpose:
The dishwasher positionis responsible for cleaning of the dish room, kitchen, and food preparation areas in compliance with state and local regulations and established policies, procedures and best practices.
Education and Experience:
The dishwasherposition requires a high school diploma, a minimum of one year of experience working within a kitchen/culinary food service operation, preferably in a healthcare or senior dining, or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
Essential Job Functions and Requirements:
The dishwasherprimarily works in the kitchen areas, and is responsible for utilizing automated dish machines, manually washing pots and pans and stocking clean dishes, glassware and silverware. Additional responsibilities include working with chemicals, emptying trashcans and mopping.
· Catering and Hospitality
The dishwasherassists with setup and break down for catered events. Ensures sanitation of dining rooms, including private dining room, community room, and activity room. May assist with meal service during special events. Inventories, cleans, and sanitizes catering supplies.
· Food Preparation
The dishwasherfollows recipes and food production schedules based on resident census. Records and reports over-production, underproduction, and waste. Assists with preparation of foods using methods designed to maintain nutrition, flavor, appearance, tenderness, and quality. May assist with preparation of therapeutic diets for special needs individuals or residents. Actively communicates with culinary staff and Executive Chef for inventory needs, usage and shortages.
· Customer Service
The dishwasherpromotes a positive customer experience by maintaining a positive attitude when interacting with co-workers, residents, and guests. The dishwasher will recognize the importance of customer service, and strive each day to provide an exceptional experience for each person they serve. He/She will know that all residents, patients, clients, families, volunteers and coworkers are all customers, and will work to ensure that every interaction they have with them is positive.
· Other Duties as Assigned
Looks for and reports any items in need of repair to the Executive Chef. Performs all daily tasks in accordance with established facility and departmental policies and procedures. In the event of a fire or other emergency, assists with resident evacuations and secures food service area. Attends in-service training and other work-related meetings as required or approved. Carries out special projects as identified. Helps with any other areas of the building as needed.
Essential Qualifications and Requisites:
The ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately is essential. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude is essential. The ability to work with a variety of staff and residents with differing values, attitudes, capabilities, and dispositions is essential. This position requires an ability to work effectively as an individual player of the dining services team as well as part of the community wide team. The dishwasherfollows and abides by the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy guidelines as administered by Liberty Senior Living.
Essential Physical Requirements
· Vision – Must be able to read.
· Hearing – Must be able to hear and understand normal human tones in a somewhat noisy environment.
· Speech – Must be able to communicate with others in a somewhat noisy environment. Must be able to speak English well enough to communicate with staff and residents.
· Lifting Capacity – Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Other – Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, squat, bend, and reach. Position requires constant and repetitive movement of hands and arms.
