SUMMARY:

The Harvest Representative is responsible for aiding the Director of Harvest Operations in overseeing harvest; maintaining detailed and up-to-date growing information and harvest records for all Limoneira Company and affiliated growers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Limoneira’s job descriptions describe the key areas of responsibility but do not attempt to describe all activities or areas of responsibility. In most cases, the description covers approximately 80% of an individual's daily, weekly or monthly job duties.

  • Assist with scheduling harvest crews for Limoneira Company and affiliated growers to maximize cost-effectiveness, optimize fruit quality, and ensure availability to meet market demand; posts and distribute harvest schedules; inform sales and packing departments of field observations; travels to all assigned citrus districts as needed
  • Build relationships with affiliated growers and labor contractors; monitor labor contractor crews during harvest to ensure quality, safety, and food safety standards are being met, verify the labor contractor and crews follow and comply with state and federal regulations for farm labor
  • Obtain and submit annual documentation of labor contractors’, current federal and state licenses, Workers' Compensation and liability insurance, injury and illness prevention program, safety guide, and/or rules for all crews
  • Estimate total annual harvest by block for Limoneira Company and all affiliated growers; update estimates regularly
  • Work with the harvest team to negotiate rates with labor contractors. Review and approve harvest invoices
  • Coordinate harvest schedule with pest control, weed control, and irrigation schedules and verify all restrictions have been removed before allowing harvest crew in the orchard
  • Report daily harvest results by crew including information like grower, ranch, crew, volume picked, yield, fruit count, etc.
  • When needed, interact with buyers/customers on field tours, etc.
  • Comply and enforce all Safety and Food Safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and management


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
:

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree from a University in the field of agriculture-related major or equivalent preferred and/or a minimum of three experience in an operations management role in fresh produce or equivalent

  • SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must have a strong knowledge base of harvest planning, regulations regarding farm labor contractors, and an understanding of general logistics; must be computer literate and able to utilize software programs; must be organized, and able to manage time, priorities, and tasks; must be able to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English; fluent in Spanish preferred; must be able to multi-task; must provide leadership and guidance to employees and delegate tasks; must motivate and encourage employees to reach their maximum potential; must be able to adapt to changing standards and requirements on routine basis. Must have a valid California driver's license.
