The primary mission and purpose of the EMT-Basic is to respond to emergent and non-emergent requests while delivering quality patient care. The EMT-Basic will deliver high levels of customer service while providing care within the appropriate scope of practice.
EMT-Basic may be assigned one or more duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as an example for all others.
Work Environment:
EMT-Basic will be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. EMT-Basic may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, dismembered and deceased patients.

This position requires that the EMT-Basic must frequently: Drive, Walk, Stand, Sit, Kneel, Bend, Lift and Carry up to 150 pounds. Must be able to use good judgement, remain calm in stressful situations and must be able to communicate effectively – written and verbally.
This position requires that the EMT-Basic must constantly have the ability to bend and stoop, ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must possess hand-eye- foot coordination. Must have adequate vision and be able to distinguish colors. Must possess, good hand and finger
dexterity.
Must be able to tolerate work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc).
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
